Wanderlust Inspiration: The Temple House, Chengdu, Sichuan, China

Ideally I want to live in historic Chengdu. The Sichuan UNESCO World Heritage Sites is one of the most pleasant ancient cities to live in China.

Chengdu’s small lanes and courtyards provide a charming contrast to impressive modern infrastructure juxtaposed against the city’s historical past.

The weather is mild and humid all year round and is best for exploring Sichuan’s legendary landscapes. Visit Chengdu famous giant pandas.

Short and warm spring brings a burst of dancing tulips a mere one-hour drive from downtown Chengdu. Followed by a long and sultry summer, cool and rainy autumn, and a cold foggy winter.

Enjoy the Ma La characteristics of Sichuan cuisine, cooked with the famous Sichuan peppers. This is the famously fiery cuisine that singeing your tongue rather than a slow burn.

Well connected by air, road and rail with all of China and the world, Chengdu is the gateway to Tibet with direct flights to Lhasa.

LUXURY STAY AT THE TEMPLE HOUSE – KEEPING IT SIMPLE

The vibrant Temple House Chengdu is a beautiful blend of traditional and modern design. Your first steps through an ancient Qing Dynasty courtyard bring you into nostalgic luxury hotel.

The Temple House is an engaging journey of classic simplicity at its best. The smooth arrival/departure experiences and the contemporary minimalist design of luxurious rooms is zen like ambiance. This is set behind the veil of a rich and fabled past of gentle hills concealing a subterranean world.

I dreamt that this world strewn with Sichuan peppers flowers as I walk through the courtyards.

OUR FAVOURITE ROOM

The true luxury of the Temple House is the staff will even add your family photos to your room before your arrival.

We fell in love with our classic residence in Studio 90 a superbly comfortable and elegant studio room with a private hideaway balcony.

The minimally decorated Temple Suites feel homey with light-wood panelling. The carefully placed mirrors and floor-to-ceiling windows draw in the light and an openness that is pleasing. Bespoke furniture and soft furnishings in natural materials create a tranquil haven for a heavenly sleep.
Vases of fresh fragrant orchids and a small selection of books are the little touches that we appreciate.

A black decorative screen adds local flavour as a divider and makes the studio feel open and bright.

The spa-inspired bathroom gives you the choice to soak in a full size bathtub or take a refreshing rain shower.

In room refreshments are a free easy treat with the Maxi Bar well stocked with complimentary sweets, soft drinks, beers, juice, coffee and teas.
